Kyivstar passes annual Microsoft audit

Ukrainian operator Kyivstar said that it has successfully passed Microsoft's annual audit and retained its partner specialisation in "Infra and Database Migration to Microsoft Azure" for another year. This confirms the company's technical expertise and experience in migrating server infrastructure and databases to the Microsoft Azure cloud. Kyivstar also offers businesses solutions for data backup in Microsoft Azure, as well as the development of disaster recovery plans.

Safaricom Ethiopia appointed Samuel Munyua as chief finance officer, effective 1 November. Munyua brings over 20 years of experience in financial strategy, governance, treasury, controls, and business performance. He joined Safaricom Kenya as group financial controller in 2021 and before that held senior finance roles at KCB Bank Kenya and Barclays Bank Kenya (now Absa Bank). He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Senior Executive Program for Africa certificate from Harvard Business School.

Verizon commences roll-out of AI RAN optimisations through Ericsson Intelligent Controller

Verizon and Ericsson have agreed an expanded deal to deploy AI-native software apps at the former's mobile masts. The partners will deliver a national roll-out of Ericsson's Intelligent Controller (EIC) platform in Verizon's US network, with initial  deployments set to begin before end-2026. EIC's Open RAN interfaces enable standardised software functionality, including non-real-time optimisations known as rApps used to boost performance at RAN sites.

Telestrada shareholders raise tender price

Airtel Nigeria has introduced the Open Network feature on the My Airtel App, making it the first market across Airtel Africa's fourteen operations to offer subscribers real-time insights into network coverage, signal strength, and performance. Amdocs expects lower financial results in its fiscal year started in October due to a dispute with T-Mobile US over their contract terms. In its Q4 report, the company said both and it T-Mobile had asserted material breaches in their contract, under which Amdocs provides software and services to the US operator.
